Sara Glojnarić
Composer
Sara Glojnarić is a Croatian composer based in Leipzig, Germany. Her artistic practice examines pop culture in depth, focusing on its aesthetics, socio-political implications, collective memory, nostalgia, and the complex interplay of cultural data. Her body of work spans a range of mediums, including opera, orchestral works, chamber music, and video art.
Throughout her career, Sara has collaborated with renowned ensembles and orchestras, earning numerous prestigious international awards. These include the Ernst von Siemens Förderpreis (2023), the Kompositionspreis der Stadt Stuttgart (2024), the Erste Bank Kompositionspreis in Vienna, and the Kranichsteiner Musikpreis at the Darmstädter Ferienkurse (2018). Most recently, she was awarded the SWR Orchesterpreis for her piece DING, DONG, DARLING!, which premiered at the Donaueschinger Musiktage in 2024, as well as the GEMA Deutscher Musikautor*innenpreis – Nachwuchspreis (German Music Authors’ Award – Emerging Artists).
Alongside her work as a composer, Sara is an active composition mentor. Her teaching emphasizes the broader cultural context of music, covering topics such as cultural theory, translation, linguistics, and intersectional queer and feminist perspectives. She has mentored students at various European universities.
